“There’s something grounding about returning to your hands; to making, to feeling, to slowing down.”
The idea for Studio Marloe began long before the first necklace was made. It started as a quiet craving to create something tangible, something that carried warmth and intention. After years spent behind a screen as a designer, I found myself longing for a slower rhythm, a deeper connection to the process of making.
When I sit down to create, it’s rarely planned in a rigid way. The process is meditative, often repetitive, a gentle, grounding practice that quiets the noise of everyday life. Every necklace is hand-strung, one bead at a time. Each piece takes shape slowly, one detail at a time, until it begins to feel right, balanced, effortless, whole. It’s this slowness, this act of presence, that I think gives each piece its soul.
Every Studio Marloe piece is made in small batches in my Sunshine Coast studio. It’s an intentional process from selecting materials to hand-stringing each bead. I use quality components like 14k gold-filled findings and a mix of reclaimed and sourced beads, chosen for their longevity and natural beauty. But beyond the materials, what I love most is the rhythm that allows space for thought and stillness. It’s a practice that feels both grounding and expansive. A reminder that creativity doesn’t always have to move fast to be meaningful.
Making by hand has become my way of reconnecting with myself, with the pace of nature and with the quiet satisfaction of creating something from nothing.
I want the jewellery to feel lived in, like an extension of the wearer rather than an accessory. Something you reach for without thinking. Something that carries memory. Something that makes you feel good about yourself and ready to face any moment of your day with ease.
In a world that moves quickly, Studio Marloe is my invitation to you to slow down. To choose things that last, that carry story, that are made with intention and genuine purpose. Each piece holds that energy: the patience of the process, the warmth of human touch and the natural beauty of something truly handmade. To remind us that handmade things while imperfect, slow and human, still hold magic in a fast world.
